Most of my regular Cottage of the Month viewers will probably remember Melody's previous home (here) and her garden (here). Not too long ago, Melody married a wonderful man named Alex, and they happily reside in this wonderful home in Ventura County, California.

Melody took her Shabby Chic style and blended it with a masculine influence to create what she refers to as a "Shabby Spanish" look. A blending of romance and sophistication. Melody's husband, Alex, is an avid reader and loves art. Melody kept her favorite items from her previous home, but wanted to create a home that reflected them as a couple.

"We love going to flea markets, and thrift stores, always on the look out for the next treasure" says Melody. "We love gardening, and I have enjoyed creating the theme gardens that surround the property". Melody's favorite is the "English Garden", which is a mix of roses with perennials and garden decor from many of their flea market ventures. "I have a couple of Blue jays that comes for peanuts at the same time everyday", says Melody. "I have been able tame them to eat out of my hands. I just love it. Simple pleasures!"
